The Moncton Wildcats downed the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in a shootout Sunday in Sydney before 2445 fans at Centre 200. Ivan Barbashev scored in the 5th round of the shootout to seal the game for the Wildcats. Dmitri Jaskin led the way with a pair of goals, his first as a Wildcat, while Allain Saulnier and Alex Saulnier added singles. Allain and Alex Saulnier also added assists. Alex Dubeau stopped 23 of 27 shots as the Wildcats even their season record at 1-1. Cape Breton were 2 for 5 on the power play while the Wildcats were 0 for 5. The Wildcats travel to Saint John Wednesday and host Cape Breton in the Home Opener this coming Friday at the Moncton Coliseum. Tickets for the Home Opener go on sale Monday.
