Beran's two goals lead Rocket over Titan
Matej Beran's early third period goal proved to be the winner in a 4-2 win over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan Friday night at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre.
Beran led the way for the Rocket with a pair of goals. Ben Duffy chipped in with a goal and two helpers. With the win, the Rocket improve to 2-1-0-0 on the season.
The Rocket opened the scoring in the first period with Victor Provencher's second goal of the season at 11:53. Duffy and Tomas Pavelka drew the assists. The Titan responded with 49 seconds left in the frame with a goal from Zach O'Brien.
In the second period, Beran scored his first goal of the contest and of the season at 7:23 to give the Rocket a 2-1 lead. O'Brien added his second of the game with a powerplay goal at 15:01 to tie the game.
Beran's second of the contest came 26 seconds into the third period to give the Rocket a 3-2 lead. Duffy finished off the scoring with an empty net goal.
Antoine Bibeau stopped 24 pucks to pick up the win for P.E.I.
Jacob Brennan took the loss for Bathurst making 30 saves.
The Rocket return home Sunday afternoon to battle Gatineau Olympiques, game time is at 3 p.m.
