The PEI Rocket was defeated tonight in Moncton with a 6-1 score. The loss brings the Rocket season record to 19-14-2-0.
Moncton’s Ross Johnston opened the scoring in the first period, followed by Alex Saulnier, giving the Wildcats a 2-0 lead. With seconds remaining in the period, Ben Duffy scored his 24th goal of the season, on a powerplay, assisted by Alex Micallef and Alexis Pépin.
In the second, despite being outshot 2 to 1, Johnston and Ryan Penny, on a powerplay, further extended the Moncton lead.
Going into the third, Penny tacked another before Yannick Veilleux netted the final goal of the game.
Maxime Lagacé stopped 32 shots in the loss.
Alex Dubeau saved 25 shots in the win.
The Rocket return home before visiting the Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Friday, December 21 at 7:30p.m.
The next Rocket home game is on December 28th against the Wildcats.
